Digestion, Fatigue, Anxiety, Stress

Digestion

It is estimated that approximately 62 million Americans experience digestion problems on an ongoing basis. This is due to the harmful repercussions of the standard American diet on our population coupled with the high level of stress that the average American experiences.

Maintaining healthy digestion is an essential component in our quest for optimal health. If digestion is weak, it will lead to a myriad of unwanted symptoms that decrease one’s quality of life. We understand how frustrating and disruptive digestive problems can be.

The good news is that we have successfully treated, with acupuncture and herbs, many of our patients suffering from digestion problems.

Digestion problems can range from minor annoyances such as gas and bloating, constipation, diarrhea, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), acid reflux, to life-threatening illnesses such as ulcerative colitis, crohn’s disease and various cancers that target digestive organs. Whatever the case, it is always worth being proactive about our digestive health.

Most digestion problems respond very well to acupuncture and herbal treatment. Making dietary changes that restore and detoxify the gut also enhances treatment progress.

Fatigue

In a fast paced world where we are constantly busy and seem to be continuously triggered by outside stimuli, fatigue is normal for almost everyone. Many of us don’t even take the time to actually acknowledge how tired we are! However there is much more to fatigue then just lack of proper rest.

Most patients don’t come in the clinic do not come at the initial visit complaining of fatigue. They may have Parkinson’s disease, insomnia, depression, or headaches. The whole picture must be looked at when we set up a treatment plan so even though what bothers you the most might be your depression for example, the fatigue associated with it will also be healed.
Your symptoms are not some randomly labeled diseases that have no connection with each other. Your body is working in a synergistic way and needs to be treated accordingly, with a completely holistic approach.

Every day we see acupuncture work in amazing ways to help people regain their energy and thrive in their lives. Most people need more than acupuncture. In that case, custom herbal formulas along with nutritional recommendations for your specific needs, lead to excellent results and a quick recovery.

Anxiety

If you suffer from anxiety or panic attacks, you’re very familiar with the symptoms—heart palpitations or the sensation of a racing heart, chest tightness, numbness and tingling in your hands and feet, feeling light headed, shortness of breath, and the general feeling of fear, or that you might die right now.

Anxiety can be a tricky thing.  For some people it seems to come out of nowhere and creep up at unexpected moments.  For others, anxiety is predictable and associated with certain events, fears, or situations.  Things like driving on the highway, eating in restaurants, and spiders all have the potential to create anxiety.

Unfortunately, many people experience anxiety symptoms and don’t know why, which only makes the anxiety worse.  However, it’s important to know that anxiety can be caused by physical problems, such as hormonal imbalances, digestive issues, heart problems, and drug side effects.

Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine look at the mind and body as a whole. We will not only ask you questions about exactly how anxiety affects you, I will also ask about your digestion, if you are having headaches or migraines, how you sleep, your energy levels and any muscle pains you may be having. While many of these questions may seem unrelated, with acupuncture our goal is to not only get rid of the symptoms of the anxiety you are currently experiencing but to get your body healthy enough to prevent these symptoms from happening in the future.

Stress

Stress is often the cause of illness and the deterioration of health. Finding a release valve for your stress can help you stay healthy. According to Oriental medicine, stress, frustration, and unresolved anger can play an important part in throwing the immune system off and allowing pathogens to affect the body. Through acupuncture, these energy blockages can be addressed. Acupuncture points can help energy flow smoothly, and alleviate not only the symptoms of stress and anxiety, but the stress and anxiety itself.

Numerous studies have demonstrated the substantial benefits of acupuncture in the treatment of stress. Acupuncture improves circulation of blood throughout the body, which oxygenates the tissues and cycles out stress hormones and other waste chemicals. The calming nature of acupuncture also decreases heart rate, lowers blood pressure and relaxes the muscles.
